Carrington Falls trip

A trip to Carrington Falls proved to be of interest with the recent rains having boosted the water going into the gorge by a reasonable percentage.
Following are some shots from the day.

On the right hand side of the above photo is one of the usual suspects in these photographic trips, Denis Wilson, who kindly donated his car for the day to run Rhiannon, Aeron and myself out there. The kids had a great time spotting local fauna and flora while Denis and I busily snapped away at some of this areas most magnificant scenery.

Waterfall Shoot

After the recent rainfall it seemed that a couple of waterfall shots could be a good idea as all the streams were running at a fair rate. A hike was planned for Macquarie Pass. After a good walk, and a quite steep decent, four intrepid explorers came upon a rather nice spot.

Hidden in the gorge was the area pictured.

A great spot for a few photos and, of course, a picnic.

How best to enjoy a great picnic spot than with a selection of fine cheeses, meats, and assorted delicacies. Thanks to Brenno for the highbrow creation pictured here.

After hanging round for a while it was time to head back, with the following view to round off a great excursion.

Recent weather sparks insect activity

Hot days with periods of high humidity has seen insect activity on the increase.

The mossies being no exception.

Larval casings of larger insects such as Robberflys, can easily be found in their environments with a large number of prey insects to support this and other predators such as the Dragonfly.

Accompanied by producer and photographer Andrew Jones, I made the trek to a number of small waterfalls such as the one pictured.

To get the shot you need low light with long exposures, so we are sitting at dusk in a mossie infested rain forest getting shots when I'm buzzed by a Dragonfly like insect. It being too dark to photograph or identify more clearly.

I thought them heat of the day hunters, though was proven incorrect by the near dark antics of this creature.

Not the one, pictured below, though this particular insect is in good numbers in many areas at the moment.
