Afternoon Feed

A quick video of a flock Swallows (Hirundo Neoxena) feeding on small aquatic insects.

I filmed this just last week (early August) and this scene replays itself every afternoon.

I will be interested to see how long it continues, as it will possibly depend on the transformation of the insects from aquatic to airborne creatures.

  1. Hi David

A lovely ballet scene - especially the slow-motion images. "Welcome Swallows", of course.
Your pond must be full of insects. It'll be mozzie heaven in the warmer months - so those Swallows are doing you a huge favour, eating the larvae. But you knew that.
    Cheers

  3. Oh I reckon I could just sit there all day. In fact I've watched the video 3 times today.
